James' Origami Gallery
On Friday, I folded my first model from a Crease Pattern. So now, to start off my gallery, I'll show you that model.
Older Models That aren't great, but mark a landmark in my folding history
First CP's:
b]Model:[/b] Peacock
Designer: Gilad Naor
Folder: James Mitchell
Paper:8.5/8/5 letter paper (We have letter paper of all different colors)
Model: Wolf
Designer: Mark Leonard
Folder: James Mitchell
Paper:8.5/8/5 letter paper (We have letter paper of all different colors)
Something weird happened to the wolf's paper when I accidentally got it in a bit of water.
Recent Models:
Model: Golden Eagle
Designer: Robert J Lang
Model: Fiery Dragon
Designer: Kade Chan
Model: V's Mask
Designer: Brian Chan
Model: Flapping Crane
Designer: Robert J Lang
Notes:
-Advice, comments, and constructive criticism wanted.
-I tried making tissue foil today for the first time. It feels way better than kami and printer paper, so hopefully I can make some more advanced models!
-The tissue foil is red, and I have these books that have some of the models in the difficulty range I'm looking for: Origami From Angelfish to Zen (Peter Engel), Origami Insects and their Kin (Robert J Lang), and Origami Zoo (Stephen Weiss and Robert J Lang), ODS2 (Robert J Lang). I'd like to fold a diagrammed model for my first attempt, so no CP's. What would you suggest?

Re: James' Origami Gallery
Not bad, but I would definitely suggest using better paper in the future. Even foil paper works very well for beginners; you can buy a pack for only a few dollars.
I can see you have a lot of potential. Keep up the good work.

Update coming: Kade Chan's Fiery Dragon, Robert J Lang's Flapping Crane, Robert J. Lang's Flapping Crane. I'll get them up as soon as I take some pictures (Should be better pictures this time.)
Re: James' Origami Gallery
You use harder paper and it moulds how you fold. You can manage tears and creases more effectively from the experience of using A4 copy paper.Baltorigamist wrote:Not bad, but I would definitely suggest using better paper in the future. Main post updated. Under notes, read it, and tell me what I should fold, please. I'm having a tough time choosing.

Re: James' Origami Gallery
Try maybe the blue crab in Origami Zoo by Lang/Weiss, or the longhorn beetle from Insects.
I would rather fail trying than fail without trying....

Hey Benlewis. Thanks for the input. I think I may try the black pine sawyer (I think that's what you mean by longhorn beetle).Benlewisorigami wrote:Try maybe the blue crab in Origami Zoo by Lang/Weiss, or the longhorn beetle from Insects.
