New Person ^_^

Post by steampunkgrrrl »

Hello everyone! I'm new here, but not new to origami. ^_^

I'm not sure what I should put here, so I'll just list some stuff and we'll see what happens.

I'm from the Southeastern U.S. and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and now I work in a library. (Do Not Ask.) I'm interested in Origami, Steampunk, Drawing & Illustrations, Designing, Creating, and Modding things, Video Games, Art, Fiction (Fantasy and SciFi), Mathematics (especially anything involving Codes), and Violin. And music. In fact, I listen to some pretty odd stuff.

So, that's it. ^_^

Welcome to the forum! I'm a software engineer, but more to the point a BIG steampunk fan. Who/what's your favourite? For me it's Tim Powers.

Woohoo! Another steampunk fan! ^_^ My favorite....let's see....general Scifi/Fantasy is a toss between Douglas Adams and Neil Gaiman. Steampunk Fiction is S.M. Peters (Whitechapel Gods). I haven't read any Michael Moorcock or Thomas Pynchon yet (I'm workin' on it!!!!).

Welcome to the forum :).

We have so many similarities, its borderline scary. Its nice to meet a kindred spirit XD.

I've not read any steampunk fiction so to speak, but I enjoy the style and its elements in other media, such as "The Big O", "The World of Warcraft", and the "Final Fantasy" series.

Me too. It's also in Escaflowne, an anime that ranks hi on my list. ^_^ A lot of games do have steampunk influences, and it's funny when you start to notice them. ^_^ Nice to meet you too!

Unfortunately, I've only seen a few episodes of Escaflowne from when it was on Fox network I think. I'll have to look into that again. Since you are a library employee as well, have you seen "Read or Die" (the movie)? If not, I think you'd enjoy it, I know I did :).
