I am stuck at step 204 of this beautiful model.

Someone very nice from a Japanese forum translated what's written at steps 204 and 205 for me, but I still don't understand what to do with the hand of the model.

204:
The arrowed part is two-layered.
Let the back layer inside out as it is folded upwards.
Handle the palm part, the right edge, temporary as shown in the next picture.

205:
Fold inside and insert the part at the front space among three spaces.

How many layers should be folded inside out ?
Does the hand and all the fingers have to be turned inside out too ?

First: where did you get diagrams of this model? I would like to get a copy, if it is still in print.

But in the diagrams, it look as if you take the flap with all the fingers, and mountain fold it so it comes up in behind. Basicly take the second flap to the last flap and fold it up behind.

then step 205 is just a swivel fold up inside the flap.

If this is not working, please understand I have never folded this model

This is just my take on what the diagrams say.

There's already been a discussion concerning diagrams for Hojyo Takashi's Icarus and Violin Player in another topic: http://snkhan.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=872

It seems that the only way to get them is through JOAS. Best way to get the appropriate information would be to contact them directly.

What size and type of paper would you recomend?
Iv'e tried with A1 office paper to no availe

Try some home-made tissue foil, or backcoated/resized mulberry papers.

A1 office paper is too thick and tears too easily for this model, particularly at the little finicky bits like the fingers.

Depends on what you want and what you're trying to fold.

For complex stuff, you'll want something as thin as possible. Almost all the fancy stuff listed there have paper weights of 90 gsm and above - this is pretty heavyweight stuff, which will be difficult to work with if you're trying to get small details in.

The mulberry tissues with 20-40 gsm weights would be ideal. If they're too thin, you can always add more sizing or backcoat two sheets together.

I read on robert lang's site about lokta paper, it is avaliable at the site on my previous post. Would this paper also be suitable for this model?

I was about to order paper from that shop, but decided otherewise when I saw the outrageous shipping price of $40 US! Does anyone know of any other, more affordable online stores

@ esato: I don't know if you figured out how to do it already but I got a good result by just inversing the first pocket and then mountain folding the front layer into that one. (kinda like a closed sink, the fingers didn't need to be inversed) I just unfolded the thumb and refolded it after step 205.

I'm at step 264 now, where you have to start working on the chest. The pictures of how the layers should be arranged (with the dots and stars) are pretty clear, but I don't know what that horizontal line with the black arrow is supposed to be. Probably some kind of reference line so you can see how far you should fold stuff, but I'd like to know what it says in step 264 before I do anything stupid

So can anyone translate step 264-266? My scanner is broken so I'm hoping someone has the booklet.
