i've been trying to fold my helicopter. it's really frustrating me. when i developed it i was subject to search and seizure of illegal hobbycraft (origami) and therefore had to send home my prototypes through the mail. the rollers that apply the barcoding to envelopes totally mangle folded my models, so trying to delineate certain crease patterns has been a bear.

I have folded Romain Chevrier's Turtle. it's a very nice, not too hard, model:

@Xander
wow, that's really hard. why didn't you drafted the folding process in a simple way?

I also tried to fold a tiny version of Komatsu's horse. I started with a 6cm square, but failed in the finishing process, because the paper was to thick in the end. I used standard 80g yellow copy paper. but I'm pretty sure, it can be done with 40g paper.

I tried that tiny horse again. this time I used thin kraftpaper, and the horse looks better now:

Which diagrams did you use? That looks very different from the ones I have made.

I have modified the folding process a bit, to produce a bigger and more symetric armour (term?). we have surely the same diagrams :)

Okay. It looks interesting. Similar to a snapping turtle shape.

The term you want is "carapace". =)

On your 6 cm-horse, you didnt reverse fold the head, did you ?

A friend of mine, who is a very good folder, fold an horse from a 4 cm square, doing every steps. Its hard to believe but its right. I've seen it.

Thanks Dioniso !
I cant take a photo of the very small horse for now, because its in an origami shop in Paris. I may go there this week, and then i'll take photo of it :)

Did you use tweezers to fold in the end ?

No tweezers!
I used a needle a few time to help me.
But for a smaller one I'll use them.
Did you use tweezers?

I used tweezers to fold the little corners of the 2 behind legs inside, to round the thigh. But it sure is useful, when folding llittle stuff like a 4 cm square ...

I'll try to fold a 6 cm square horse now. I'll tell you as soon as i finished it  .

I did not use any tools to finish the model. hmm... my horse somehow looks like a dog :/
