I think Joisel's rat is pretty easy to memorize. I could fold it without instructions after I folded it two times. It's easier to memorize a folding sequence with large and complicated steps than a folding sequence where even a simple petal fold is devided in several steps. That's why I tend to look...

I agree, practice is the only way to learn how to shape your models. Although the final shaping steps are only a few steps they're probably the most important steps of the entire folding process. And as you advance to more complex models shaping them becomes more and more important. Like esato said ...

When looking for paper you shouldn't just limit yourself to special origami paper. Just look for big rolls of paper in stores, and like daydreamer said, remove the plastic for a bit and feel the paper.
