Zoraz: Gallery II

I know I have an old gallery post down somewhere, but I feel like starting fresh is the right thing to do. After all, I may be making this up, but I feel like I am far more patient and exact now than I used to be. Anyway, here's 3 things I've folded recently that turned out pretty well: https://farm...

Returning after an (unintentional) hiatus

Wow this place has changed a lot since I was last here! So many people have left, and so many new ones have joined... Anyway, it's been about 4 years since I posted anything here, and even longer since I was a regular member. You could say I went through some... tough times over the past 6 years, ma...

Re: komatsu hideo- dog

First time posting on here in a while... Anyway, Ive recently gotten back into folding complex CPs, and have been working on some Komatsu models. However, I am stuck on the shaping for the dog`s head. I have the base collapsed, and everything is correctly shaped except for the head. Has anyone else ...

hide - Dice

Ive had this stuck in my head all day... but for good reason. I could listen to this song on repeat for hours and not get bored of it!

Re: Aims

I'd like to get back into designing... once my AutoCAD license ran out I stopped designing... I want to get back to it and try out some of my old design ideas that never got off the ground

Re: Using MC for shaping

I also use my fingers, but once I have a part in place, I clip it then set it aside to dry. Usually I don't use MC shaping for legs though, Ive never had a problem thinning or positioning them without it. I mostly use it when shaping box-pleated or hex-pleated models to get things like the head and ...

Re: Personal origami tool kit; what to include?

Generally I carry around a folder with different sized papers in it, and a few CPs ive printed out. CPs are easier to carry since theyre only one sheet, and they also allow you to carry more of them. Of course, this only works if you know how to fold with CPs...

Re: How do you design your own origami models?

Be sure you don't overuse treemaker. It is fun to use, but its nowhere near perfect. Its most useful to figure out an approximate point allocation, but from there, its really better to box pleat, create a base based off of easy-to-fold angles such as 22.5 or 15, or find some hybrid of the two. The r...

I taught my girlfriend how to fold Kamiya's Coelophysis today. She hasnt folded anything in about 12 years, and the most complex thing she ever made before this was a traditional crane. Hers is the green one, mine is the white one.

What I do to improve is fold lots of CPs and fewer diagrams. For me, Diagrams are more to improve folding technique, but they don't give much insight to design. CPs show exactly how paper is allocated, how points are formed, and how these points are all connected together (easily the hardest part of...

*back from the dead*

If you have Kamiya's book, the fur is shaped the same way as the fingers on his Wizard or the toes on the Ancient Dragon. If not, i know theres photodiagrams up somewhere that show the technique

If you count doodles, then probably 3 hours a day. If not... then these days its less than one, mainly because of my complete lack of anything resembling decent paper

Id say 85% is other people's designs, usually from CP. I fold from diagrams when i have them though. Of the 15% that is mine, the majority are quick, mindless doodles. I have done serious design before, but I rarely have time for that anymore because of college.
