I like Kamiya's better I think, mainly because the head is the right size and has a better shape (Yoshino's was a bit small I thought), and the layers are arranged more cleanly. Yoshino's had some distracting layers wrapped around in strange directions. But Yoshino's mane is still pretty special th...

Try to find Akira Kawamura's books. They're out of print, but he does include battleships.
His website is here, but I haven't looked at it in detail.

It really depends on so many things. For wet folding, especially with paste ( e.g. methylcellulose) instead of water, it's hard to beat Origamido paper. But that's in very short supply these days. Thin sheets of Korean hanji or Nepalese lokta are also good, as are some types of Japanese washi . But ...

I never have problems with kids wanting to learn the complex stuff. Certainly, they want to, but then I explain that they need to learn the basics first. If that doesn't work, I talk to them about the amount of time required. "This dragon took me 10 hours to fold. When I teach something, it usually ...

We really don't need links to the irritable bowel syndrome website from your smiley. Thanks. 0o' sorry! how do I get rid of them? When you cut and paste the ...

I'm sure angrydemon's advice is drawn from his vast experience. :)

Notefolds, your plan sounds fine. You might want to check out David Petty's diagrams of traditional models for ideas of what to teach.

I wouldn't call tissue foil "best" either. I find it a poor choice, really, although sometimes there is no easy substitute. It wrinkles easily, does not reverse fold well, and does not keep its shape well.

While folding, a beautiful japanese girl in a kimono came up to me and inquired what I was folding and I showed her my work. She taught me the japanese word for frog, kaeru, and in return I offered her an origami frog. She chose Joseph Wu's and in return she also gave me some beautiful chiyogami pa...
