Re: Origami Piracy

Hank, I agree, as I said earlier, that anyone who really has a vested interest in any of this should consult an attorney in their jurisdiction, preferably that specializes in intellectual property law. I also understand the distinction between the copyright protection for a model and for diagrams of...

Re: Origami Piracy

Sure, but that seems closer to licensing or someone choosing to give up their copyright in some way. I believe the implication of "easements" has to do with the way that real estate easements can be granted without the land owner's consent and even against their (belatedly) expressed wishes. Hank se...

I understand how easements apply to real property, but I am not familiar with their application to copyright. Perhaps you can provide some information and examples of easements applied to copyright protected works?

Re: Origami Piracy

The Law - very different from Art - requires that you protect your property under Copyright Law. This is why Disney and Apple are vigorous in protecting their properties ... it's required, otherwise there is the chance that in a courtroom someone might argue that the property, such as an easement o...

Re: how to arrange an origami (convention) display

I like to see names of models not because I can't identify them, but because it makes them easier to track down later.

Re: Centerfold Convention 2012

I just added the stern Felix model to the menu, in addition to the spring into action and flower tower I had already added. If you have already gone through the model menu and indicated interest, you might run through it again in the next few days because there have been other models added as well.

Re: Centerfold Convention 2012

Will there be an official physical model menu this year? I know last year several teachers put together an ad hoc one in the exhibition hall.

Re: Centerfold Convention 2012

A class list has been posted on the site. http://signup.ohiopaperfolders.com/ If you are planning to attend the convention, you should go there signup/login and indicate your interest in the various classes as this helps determine which classes should be scheduled and how large the rooms should be f...

Re: Centerfold Convention 2012

I'm on it like a donkey on a waffle.

Any suggestions on what I should teach? I was considering Spring into Action and/or a flower tower of some sort.

Re: Upcoming and past Conventions

For what it is worth, I thought OUSA 2012 was great. I plan to write more about it later, but the tl;dr is that I saw several friends from Centerfold, met a bunch of new friends, and had a great time.

Re: Upcoming and past Conventions

I think one reasonable approach would be to create a wiki so that people could contribute information about designers and list their accomplishments. This would have some overlap with the origami book database.
