Re: Animals that haven't been done...yet
I believe my tripod fish is also the first instance of such a model in origami. Which is not entirely surprising...

Re: Birdbase, Dragons
I'm not sure how, but these models somehow keep improving! Such variety and elegance! It is certainly easy to see just how much your intuition on how to design improves over time by looking at this gallery. I definitely encourage anyone starting to design to learn from these dragons and the process ...

Re: Birdbase, Dragons
Dang, that colour-change one is awesome! I really love these dragon designs, they somehow manage to be original even after riffing off the same base for so long.

Re: Project Ryu Zin 3.5 --> 2024
Most of the lessons are testfolds for small parts of the model, only a few are making the final thing. It's also split into lower half and upper half and then glue together at the end, but you can do it from a single square with the same method if you just do both sides at once, which is what I did.

Re: Painting finished models
Acrylic paint tends to work with pretty much everything. That's probably your best option in terms of painting the paper. And just apply it with an ordinary paint brush.

Re: Project Ryu Zin 3.5 --> 2024
I only logged 11 and a half hours for full precreasing, including scales, and 30 hours overall, with out scale shapings, which would probably add an extra 10 or so. You will definitely have trouble shaping scales on a 1 metre square, but it's apparently doable.

Re: ODT #8
Okay, next round should be starting with pairs of Grace vs Crease and Tankoda vs Balto. Would people prefer to use the traditional topic selection method or the one we used last round?

Re: "Cute" origami models
Gen Hagiwara is spot on there, plus there's a few other good models by Katsuta Kyohei that would count. I also think new generation of origami has quite a few good ones, and most tanteidan convention books probably do too.

Re: ODT #8
I would think that keeping the same seed ordering is probably the easiest, most logical idea, but I'm not actually in the tournament anymore, so I'm not sure how much of a say I get.

Re: ODT8: Folderp vs. Baltorigamist - Sports
Thanks Tankoda, and congratulations Balto! Both your designs were very impressive, and I definitely think you deserved this win (although I wouldn't have complained too much if I won). As Tankoda said, your football is amazing, and it reminds me of one of the first designs of yours I ever saw, your ...

It looks like Grace is the winner of this challenge! You both made really nice, clean, simple tessellations, so well done to both of you.

Well, I think Tankoda should be a pretty good impartial judge, so I'm happy with that.

Re: ODT8: Folderp vs. Baltorigamist - Sports
Either of those suggestions could work. Depends on whether we want to keep it a voting process and bring in another community. I'm happy with either. What would you prefer Balto?

Well, it seems NeverCeaseToCrease is through to the next round. Congratulations! I personally thought both the designs were pretty great, so well done to both of you.
