Re: FearlessFlourish Origami

Thanks for the explanation. That's really a lot of work and precision, but the result is worth it.

Re: FearlessFlourish Origami

Impressive model! And probably easier to lift than the real one.

How do you ghost-crease? Do you lightly trace checkpoint marks on the paper before creasing?

Re: FearlessFlourish Origami

As always, very nice paper! (The result is also beautiful.)
Those white "worm-like" things on the precreased sheet, are they some glue to keep the model in shape?

Re: Origami 4 x 4 Checkerboard pattern

toddmagic wrote: December 24th, 2022, 11:25 pmDoes anyone know what variation of the 4 x 4 origami checkerboard is the best?
What do you mean by "the best"? Easiest to fold? Greater ratio initial square size / folded board size? Most full board cells squares (as opposed to 2-triangle-cells squares)? ...?

Not sure about the convention itself, but there is at least some hints it will happens: a call to diagrams has been done about three weeks ago.

Re: Trying to buy copy of out-of-print book

(...) When I was a kid, I remember the school library having a book called "World of Origami." It was easily 2-300 pages long, and had multi-square models, and even models from regular hexagons and equilateral triangles. The book was definitely older than me, probably from the 50s or 60s. I specifi...

Re: No Tanteidan Convetion 2021?

is this convention only for folding like they dont have any lectures or origami design classes . There will be lectures as well as folding classes, and a "break room" for free chat. I don't know about design class though. oh and about those convention books I have some good designs that I would lik...

Re: No Tanteidan Convetion 2021?

I don't need to talk Japanese right P.s sorry for the stupid questions If it is like regular conventions (and it should be, apart from the remote thing), many classes attended by foreigners have either the teacher explaining both in Japanese and in English, or an English-speaking assistant (if the ...

Re: No Tanteidan Convetion 2021?

It is reported to November, as a remote Zoom convention.
Link to official webpage.

Call to diagrams is on the page too, but still in Japanese (the first paragraph after the pink/purple zone, headed「折り図募集中」).
I haven't found an English page, maybe it will come later?

Re: OrigamiHouse Next Publication List

Thanks for the information! Can't wait for it to get available, I really like Hagiwara's models and diagrammed sequences!

Just a note:
Risu (Squirrel) 2015
Koala
Kiwi
Between Squirrel 2015 and Kiwi, it is not Koala (which is at the end of the list) but Little fox (or Fox cub).

Re: What "isn't" origami? -- Then versus Now

I see those various origami "rules" mainly as self-imposed restrictions. For instance, designing a Chinese dragon within a long strip of paper is "not so hard" (or so they say...) , but with the limiting rule "one square of paper", it becomes more of a challenge. Also, as an anecdotical example: I m...

Re: An origami enquiry

There used to be these wonderful little paper cutters made by a company in Denmark, I think. They were envelope openers, but they cut paper perfectly. They aren't made anymore. If you want a real helper, get your hands on one of these, reverse engineer it and sell it. You'll help more folders more ...
