Re: Other Art Forms

I like drawing cartoon penguins. I can't really say why except that I was bored one evening and decided to work out how penguins would ride a bicycle, then started setting them to other tasks like cleaning windows and capturing dragons... I know my drawing skills are not great, but they're just for ...

Jeannine Mosely stellated dodecahedron assembly

I didn't think this would be too difficult for a first attempt at making something harder than cubes, but having made my 12 units I can't see at all how to assemble them, and the diagram ( https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&ei=_d4JU8iAFerG7Aah7YHwAw&url=http://www.origami.gr.jp/Archi...

Re: Pretty but simple closing boxes for wedding favours?

That's a nice one too, thank you Gerado :-) I'll certainly let you know what she chooses. I'm not going to the wedding, but might be able to get a pic or two anyway, as I'd like to see the finished boxes too.

Re: Pretty but simple closing boxes for wedding favours?

Thanks for the suggestions! :-) I said I'd get back to her in a few days, and I plan to offer her a selection to choose from if I can. To me those look lovely, but I don't really know what she wants beyond 'easy, pretty and closing', hence wanting a few different ones to show her. Hopefully one will...

Pretty but simple closing boxes for wedding favours?

Hi A friend is getting married later this year and has asked me if I can find instructions for a pretty box that she can make to put a few sweets in for each guest at her wedding. It has to close (perhaps a lid will do), and has to be simple to make - as far as I know she hasn't done any origami bef...

Re: Montroll Book Recommendations

Thanks, my 'stand it on a cluttered table and take a snap with your phone' method goes against most of the advice on those threads :-) I'll give it more thought now, there's a lot of good information there!

Re: Montroll Book Recommendations

Thanks :-) Sorry about not putting the authors on, I was having trouble with the computer (to cut a long story short) so I put them in sets by book hoping it would cover that (that was why I linked to the sets page rather than the photostream one). I'll try and fix it later. Edit: I've updated all o...

@rgieseking
Glad it's going well, and that you're enjoying it. I'm not sure I would have said the same of mine, but there were certainly good moments to balance out the frustration...

Re: Are there any women out there?

I don't climb anywhere exciting (nothing big or abroad) and have done a lot less since I finished my degree and PhD and left the north of England for somewhere with less rock and less indoor walls (none since getting ill, unsurprisingly), but I've climbed in the Lake District, the Peak District, Yor...

Re: Are there any women out there?

Hello! :-) Hope it's going well. I was glad to see the end of mine; took a full year to get it written up (I had oodles of data to try make sense of at the same time, did a lot of this [-o< ), but it was worth it in the end, if just to occasionally to be able to respond with "it's Dr actually" when ...

Re: Montroll Book Recommendations

Thanks Razzmatazz, I'm hoping to get that after I've made some dinosaurs - Edg suggested it too. Mir (and anyone else who wants to look) I've created a Flickr account and uploaded a few pictures. Neither the origami nor the photography is going to win any prizes, but I hope they're not too bad: http...
