|
|
Hello,
I currently got a problem with the diagram of Balrog from Eileen's website
http://spinflipper.com/origami/diagrams/balrog.pdf
In fact, at the step 7-8 I do not understand where are the 4 corners of the bird base.
If we got the corners like
A--B
||||||
D--C
on the step 7, where are these corners on the step 8 ?
And the 3 petal fold and the squash fold must be *in* the paper of the bird base or must be outside ?
Thanks
(first but not last post !) |

Ack - that diagram was drawn by a newbie and I'm so embarrassed it's still floating around, but unfortunately I've lost the sources for them so I can't even update it easily.
Anyhow, on step 8, corner A is at the top and front, corner C is top and bottom, and corners B and D are the bottom two ends - take a look at steps 9 and 10 to see how things are lined up. The large bird base creases go under the smaller four folds at the corner. |

hum thanks for this help,
but i do not understand how, if the A corner is on the top, how the paper can exceed the size of the bird base on the top of the step 8 ? |

| Corners B, C and D will stick out a bit further than the bird base but not corner A. In step 8, the top of the model isn't drawn very clearly - it's showing A and C at the same time (you're seeing the front of A and the back of C). In step 9, part of the top diamond should also be lying below the triangular flap. |

okay, so i got this for the moment :
my paper on the step 8 is the same as the diagram, with the corners A on the top front and C on the top behind, abd the corners B and D on the bottom.
But when I fold down the A, i do not see the picture of the step 9, cf my picture.
If i continue, I got the step 10 different too, cf my picture too.
Strange isnt it ? |

Yep, it's weird, and I'm really going to smack the diagrammer.
Your pictures are correct. In step 10, it's possible that the little petal/squash/frog base thing is hidden beneath the bird base fold. Pull it out from below and then continue onwards, and compare what you get with steps 12 and 13. |

thanks you very much for your help !
I have put *out* the little triangle that was *in* the model, and I finished the step 12.
Maybe this post will help the futurs folders of this diagram |

You're welcome, and thanks for pointing out the diagram errors. With any luck, no one is going to need to refer to this post after I get around to rediagramming that thing, which, um, should probably happen within the next decade, maybe. |

| Those triangles (or more appropriately, the edges of the triangles) mark the crease lines that form the petal folds. |

precrease the angle bisector to the middle and you will get two sides of the triangle.

| Like the instructions say; lift the point and bring it up. |
