Monthly Folding Challenge - June 2007

Post by Daydreamer »

The topic for June 2007 is something you don't really see that often represented in Origami. I want you to design (it has to be your own model) some sort of household item, i.e. almost anything you might find in the kitchen, bathroom or elsewhere in your flat/house.

This includes cleaning equipment, cooking equipment, washing machines, toasters etc. but not food or furniture.

As for restrictions those who already know me a bit should know that I prefer purism, i.e. one square, no cuts, no glue, no colouring the finished model.

On your marks...
Get set...
Start folding! :D
So long and keep folding ^_^

Not food or furniture?

So, would you please define furniture for everyone? My idea is just... chairs, sofas, tables... Things with legs...

Telescope, after Nishikawa made one from 4 sheets.

I designed a version from 1 square sheet of square paper no cuts. Telescope is with knobs, colour changed rims, eye piece and tripod. Medium used - Blue Japanese Foil Square 30cm

Man, too bad my USB port is broken. I designed a spork in roughly 10 minutes after reading this thread last night!

Compact mirror makeup case

Post by firstfold »

Here is my first entry for June. Folded from a single uncut 12 inch sheet of foil backed white paper. This is a very simple but elegante use of box pleating.

What a coincidence! My USB port wouldn't work yesterday, either. I had to use a different computer to get my pictures uploaded

Shock Absorber? Hair Curler? or "Serendipitous Spring&

Post by firstfold »

I thought as a "Shock Absorber" or a "Hair Curler" this thingy made from one sheet of uncut, unglued paper might qualify for this challenge.
Eventually, this will be the "Worm Gear" for one of my multiunit creations. I just thought that "worm gear" or "Worm Spring" while still in the ball park of this challenge was a less appealing title:

Here it is:

This is called a Hanukiah. Not a menorah!!!!. The Hanukiah has 9 points for the shamash candles while a menorah only has 7. This is an original design i made several years ago. do you think this qualifies the comp rules?

1 square, no cuts
