Satoshi Kamiya - Chocobo (CP)
Hi Everybody !
I am currently intending to fold KAMIYA's chocobo (2001/10/30)
from the CP we can find on his website...
... but I'm in trouble!
It's impossible to create the wings....
I believe that I have the head and the legs... but where are the wings and the tail????
Someone can help me?
(I think it's quite the same base as for the yellow bird but I'm not sure)
Thanks!

well well well...
For sure you're more intelligent than me...
The lower right corner:
I don't understand... what's this triangle for ?
Where goes the corner point ?
And, in the finished model...
Where is the link between the two wings ?
The website picture is the same model as the yellow bird or not?
Thanks a lot!

It's the same as the Yellow Bird (it was renamed for fear of copyright/trademark infringement, I believe).
The lower right triangle is an unused portion of the paper so the lower right corner just gets tucked away, hidden, when the split is done. Incidentally, this is a two way split; in a three way split, the corner does become another point.
The wing flaps aren't very big, they're more like wing stubs, really. If you draw the circle packing for that region, you'll see that the wing flaps are pretty short compared to everything else.

Do you mean that the 'yellow bird' is not the same as chibi?rockmanex6 : chibi chobo easer then modifed chobo (look the book Works base)
In that case do you think they can be both obtained from the same CP?
(the one I'm using)
Do you mean the origami database when you say the 'book works base'?

Thanks everyone...
The one I've just folded seams to be the good one.
However, I believe my wings could be a (very) little longer...
Can anyone post a picture of an upper view of the back ?
And maybe another one from under...please
...just to check I'm doing things the right way
(I would post pictures of mine if I could...but I can't, sorry)

There's two photos here:
http://spinflipper.com/origami/cp/interm.html#chocobo
It's not quite completely collapsed, but hopefully it's enough to get you started. Just treat it like any other normal bird base once you've gotten the head in place.

Thanks, wolf. I had already seen those pictures as I was compelled to fold that CP by your tutorial. I have folded all the begginer CPs and now I am trying the intermediate ones. The first pitcure is very helpful, but I couldn´t get a clue from the second one.
I´ll keep trying though. I am not one of those who give up easily. Folding from CP´s to me is like a puzzle. Many times it´s very fun and sometimes it can be quite frustrating. The feeling of excitment when we successfuly complete the model though, is much higher than when folded from the diagrams.
Later I´ll post a picture of the base I collapsed. Maybe one of you origami experts can tell if there´s anything wrong.
I *think* I´ve managed to collapse the base correctly, using all the creases from the CP. But what I got is miles away from the finished model. I don´t know how this base (and I don´t even know if it´s right) can turn into the yellow bird. The head seems to be poiting backwards...Just treat it like any other normal bird base once you've gotten the head in place.

Ok, I'll try and get a third picture of the head one of these days...
The first picture is a view from the underside of the bird. The second one is of the head only (the rest of the body lies to the left of the picture). The crest of the head comes from the tip of the starting square sheet; this should point towards the body.
One thing to take note: the head region doesn't lie flat unless the bird base is folded in half (ie, folded along the diagonal symmetry line).
