I'd like to see some entries for this topic. I don't think I'll be able to finish mine in time.

As would I. I have nothing to judge!Baltorigamist wrote:I'd like to see some entries for this topic. I don't think I'll be able to finish mine in time.
I understand that we typically move onto another subject, but who judges next month should no one enter?

That I don't know. I'd hazard a guess that you and Victorien might reprise your respective roles should no one enter this month.
I'll see if I can't throw something together in the next week and a half, though the chances are pretty slim. And I wouldn't want to be a default winner, but it's better than nothing.

Can you give us any examples of what would count as "power?" I think nobody knows what to do

I think power could mean a lot of things:NeverCeaseToCrease wrote:Can you give us any examples of what would count as "power?" I think nobody knows what to do
Could be a flag for world powers
Could be a powerful animal or machine
Could be a powerful message or idea
Superpowers
Sports related paraphernalia
Electricity, coal, atomic
Power can mean pretty much anything, but it's difficult to try and explain an open ended prompt in a way that might inspire creativity in others
Re: Monthly Design Challenge June 2019
I have a model designed, I just need to possibly fold a better copy and then photograph it. It's assessment time over here, so I've been a little busy.

The Mass Production of Members of Society

Nepafarius, can you please confirm if the model makes sense to you and if you do see a relation with the challenge's theme?M. Florence wrote:It makes us to fit into the mold and makes us fit into the mold.

Re: Monthly Design Challenge June 2019
Gerardo, as you guessed, I am going to need some more clarification on this model
Re: Monthly Design Challenge June 2019
I don't want to give it completely away. I tried to be very artistic about it and convey a message through the fold.
I can tell you this:
- The title, the quote, and the model are all interconnected, and it says something about power.
- The model doesn't literally represent an existing subject from reality, but it does take from existing ones.
- You'd have to ask yourself what the quote means and what "it", and also "us", refers to.
- You'd also have to ask yourself what it might mean to be a "member of society".
- And also ask yourself what does the concept "mass production" evoke and what makes it peculiar to think about "the mass production of members of society".
EDIT: OK, made the video and uploaded it. Please use this URL to check it out Nepafarius and anyone else who wishes to https://www.facebook.com/neorigami2/vid ... 809045879/

I took new pictures. I think they're better. Hope they make the whole concept easier to get .
EDIT: I took even more pictures, but I think they were too much, so I edited my first post on the thread and this one as well. I left only three pictures, the ones I believe better shows what I intend people to see of the model.

Man and Dragon by Folderp, on Flickr
From a bird base. The man's robe is colour changed, but my duo paper is all so bad that the model turned out worse than this one.
The connection to power in this model is that it shows two different types of power and their relationship. The drgon has much more physical power than the man, but the man is exerting influence - a different type of power - over the dragon despite this.

Re: Monthly Design Challenge June 2019
I was beginning to think you weren't going to fold it on time Folderp . I painted the paper first to fold mine. You could try that for your model.

Re: Monthly Design Challenge June 2019
Wow, thank you guys for submitting! I honestly didn't think I'd have anything to judge, and the month would just unceremoniously pass.
Each submission is excellent, and could all win in my book. But since I can't pick all of you I guess I have to choose.
Third: Gerardo. Your model is very beautiful, and highly symbolic. The idea of a box/desk being a metaphor for the mould and restraint of society is very poignant.
Second: Folderp. Simple and effective. I like the idea of a powerful human relaxing on the belly of his befriended mythical beast.
First: Sunburst. I love the plume of smoke, and especially the magma pit. It's simple, brutal, and surprisingly educational.
Sunburst congrats, you judge next month and create the topic for August.
