Re: Ryujin 1.2 CP
I'm using display backing. I've just precreased some of the fingers.

Re: Ryujin 1.2 CP
I actually used printer paper from an A3 sheet, and it worked fine.
After, I dunked it in water and let it dry.
I'll post pics later.

Re: Ryujin 1.2 CP
You can do ryujinn 1.2 with a square from a3?

Re: Ryujin 1.2 CP
theoretically you could make ryujin 3.5 from a 15cm square, but it would have to be extremely thin. less then 1/1000 of a milliimeter.

@Harpseal
Yeah.
The body got rather thick in the middle, but not too much, and and it's not exactly beautiful.
Wait and see...

Here are some pics:
The model's about as big as my hand when it's curled up.

Re: Ryujin 1.2 CP
I know. I was proving the point that you could make 1.2 out of printer paper.malifold wrote:We're talking about a Ryujin 1.2phillipcurl wrote:theoretically you could make ryujin 3.5 from a 15cm square, but it would have to be extremely thin. less then 1/1000 of a milliimeter.
Re: Ryujin 1.2 CP
Wow. I'm assuming that you had made ryujinn1.2 out of something else first.

Re: Ryujin 1.2 CP
This is only my first try, and it's really not that hard at all.
ps: Ryujin only has one n

Re: Ryujin 1.2 CP
I'll try it with a3 as well then. I wanted to be able to do that eventually, so i might as well start early, and leave the display model for later.

Re: Ryujin 1.2 CP
I finished making 1.2 out of printer paper. It is indeed, possible
No wet folding or gluing. I did, however, make a small mistake and forgot to add claws in... It seemed to drift a bit only in those areas.
I proceeded to make it again out of terry tissue foil (copper), about the same sized sheet. It was indeed, just a fluke on that one.
It's called 1.2 for a reason ( at least, I like to think so outside of being the first one :U )

Re: Ryujin 1.2 CP
I find the first versions of anything can be done out of the cheapest papers, I find.
Re: Ryujin 1.2 CP
Yay!! I finished! I hope to get some pictures soon! It's my first one and the back legs are huge and the front legs are tiny and coming out his neck, but he's ryujin! Pictures will be hard as neorigami only allows your own designs.

Re: Ryujin 1.2 CP
So I wanted to try this model but was afraid I wouldn't be able to collapse the head, so I did a test fold on just the upper 1/4 of the CP. First though, in order to help figure it out, I drew the whole thing in AutoCAD.
Below are the references in inches for the head portion of the CP, assuming you were folding the entire model from a 15" square of paper. Hopefully this will help people out who might be having trouble with the head.
The head collapsed fine for me, using normal bond paper, although I did kind of crumple the center. Not sure if there should be a decent bottom jaw there or not. I am happy with it in any case. I did a total cheat move and just printed it out at 1:1 scale and folded the lines. I think after doing it though I will be able to figure it out on a blank sheet. This weekend I'll try the whole thing from parchment paper.
Anybody thinking about trying this model should, its not that tough. Even though I haven't done the finished model yet, I have a feeling that most people who made it this far reading this thread could do it...hopefully myself included.
I have a clean copy of the CP in .dwg or .pdf too if people want it. I assume this is OK since there are already other versions of the CP available for free online. If not, mods feel free to edit and/or let me know.
