I have very little (i.e. no) experience folding from crease patterns. And it probably does not help that I have not been folding seriously for about two years now. But I'm having a lot of trouble trying to put this owl together. I think I've collapsed the head correctly, but I can't seem to get the eyes together correctly or into the right place. If anybody could post some pictures of this part of the folding, I would really appreciate it.

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to fold Komatsu's Horned Owl from one of these diabolic CPs :? . It's the first CP I try, all because the model looks so good and there are no diagrams... I can't fold from CPs but that owl looks simple and so great that I will try...

The problem is that I can't print the CP, so started to fold in order to get the (I think) principal lines that are showed in pattern, it is a vertical center line and diagonals... I finally fold a waterbomb base... I may be wrong (sure I am wrong :? ), but even if the waterbomb base is not right to start folding the owl, I think that to know what is the rigth base will be helpful... can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance!

There are diagrams, but the book is out of print, so you'd have to search for a long time :D

As for this being your first CP, I recomend that you try something simpler first (The same thing Joseph Wu suggested to me). And also, go to Wolf's Website if you need some more advice.

Juan José

I already answered your question at GOP, but if you check here first, there is an image explaining the direction of the creases at http://img448.imageshack.us/img448/8173/owl4eq.png

Hideo owl CP

Post by javi »

I fold the owl with the next cp. The red lines are valley folds, and the blue ones are mountain folds.
I start folding the legs, then the nose and the last part I fold is the eyes.
Remember it´s only a base, you must make a few work shaping and folding the tail. Even the eyebrows is a little difficult.
I dont know how to fold the eyebrows the way hideo does. He folds them with no visible line at the back eyebrow
Anyone knows how to fold them?

Here is the cp

curious thing...

just yesterday I saw that diagram, it's from a tanteidan magazine I believe, all I could understood was a date (1998/04/15) at the top of the first page of the diagram. Then at last page said something like diagram from him on 1997.

good luck with it, i'll see if I can get it back, but anyway here is forbidden to post it, even if the magazine is out of stock. :?

There is a tutorial at Tadashi Mori's YouTube channel, not sure whether there is permission from the author though.
