A link to the video you are talking about would be helpful...

I am guessing he is talking about this one.

waterbomb tesselation by the looks of it.

I just did a quick search and found the blog that contains the crease pattern and photos.

No diagram, but with the photo diagrams of Joisel's hedgehog and this crease pattern it should be doable.

The pattern doesn't look like Joisel's hedgehog, but Sipho Mabona's fugu:

Thanks for the link to the crease sheet I must admit I was not able to find it even with googles translation of the page. This is what I was looking for. I still could use some advise on how to fold this little bugger. so if any one has any advise or a link please.
Again I am impressed with the quick response I am almost scared at this response since I have been crawling over countless pages and false leds. Thanks for the help

I love that fugu, and even from CP it seems not to be very difficult (but for closing the fish and details, i think)... but there are no diagrams or CP available :(

Actually, now that I'm folding this pattern, is it just joisel's hedgehog's pattern turned over? If I remember correctly, then they're the same and the photodiagram might help.

Haha my bad. I folded the hedgehog about a year ago but I must have never turned it over or just plain forgot about it. Good call, good call. Either way, both models help in figuring out how it should look.

Still gotta figure out exactly what method is used to lock it...

problem

I looked at the hedghog and compared it to the images of the magic ball I see that they are both pleated the ball is inside out but it is not the same type of fold, In the hegehog the pleates are overlaping. If I am wrong sorry. I guess I'm having troble using the information about the Hog on the folding the magic ball.

Bah I WAS right at first, and you're right. The magic ball and and the hedgehog don't have an identical patten but they are extrememly similar. It looks correct from above (looking down on the spiny side like in step 14 of the hedgehog diagram). Joisel's pattern is staggered and requires more paper in order to maintain the roundness of the body when you curve it.

You know what, I'm gonna try to clear this up once and for all with a quick photodiagram...

I'm interested with this model too. Thanks for the pattern! :D

this is the what bottom side looks like in my hedgehog (which I never finished)

It does look similar at first, but actually they're very different

They're not so different: there are just pleats between every row of the pattern on Joisel's hedgehog, and not on the magic ball.

I think the pleats on the magic ball rise higher to level with the zig zag patterns.
