This youtube video details the phoenix 3.5 further and also includes a CP! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsThKPAznxY
All the youtube videos of Kamiya's works really help in getting more angles to make better models.
I've taken the liberty of uploading the CP from the video, hope this is okay.

So, anyone who's folded the 3.5 model want to help find reference points? =D I can't wait to fold this.

I am still struggling with the wings. The base collapses to have wings that run from the body out to the edge of the paper. However when I see Kamiya's finished phoneix the whings folds are running nearly the same direction as the body (90 degrees from CP).
In addition to form the head and legs I have the edge portion folded the entire length as shown in the CP. In the final wing is this flap unfolded to extend the wing length?
I have seen some amazing wings folded lately not only of this phoenix but of eagles that are similar in construction. I was wondering if anyone can help me understand how to fold.
