The belly should be folded back and not towards the front though.

It amazes me how that can come out of one rectangle. Truly a unique and great origamist.

Just made my first dwarf. Not too bad for photocopying paper. It's a brilliant design! I was over the moon when I finished him, though a little more god-like praise from the missus would have been nice. In her defence, she was eating ice cream!

What I still can't understand is how you know which are the valley-folds and which are mountain-folds from the crease pattern. I've read just about everything there is to read about crease-patterns, and I don't get how you guys are doing this.

Be honest, you haven't read that much.

Most of the times the CP does not show what creases are valleys and which ones are mountains, you have to figure it out by yourself and it takes a lot of practice to do that.

There are CP's so complicated that even with the mountains and the valleys assigned, they are not easy to collapse. And after you get to the base (there's where the CP usually takes you to), you still might have a long way till the finished model.

These words are not to discourage you to try CP's, just to inform you. Still they are worth a try and you can learn a lot from them. Besides if you want to fold some models, there is no other way that you can go.
