CPs based on an 8x8 grid
I have a lot of 2 and 3/4 inch sheets that I like to casually fold, but anything beyond an 8x8 grid requires a lot of precision and attention which kind of defeats the purpose :p
My go-to model is a simplification of Riccardo Foschi's tree frog that I came up with, but I'd like to learn a few more similarly simple designs:

It might be a little complicated (I don't know your skill level), but there's a model called the Omega Star that I used to fold all the time. There is/was a tutorial on Youtube.

Re: CPs based on an 8x8 grid
I too often fold from the small squares, it's handy for when I'm commuting somewhere or waiting around somewhere.
My go-to models are Jo Nakashima's squirrel and some jun maekawa models (namely rabbit and peacock). If you're looking for a cp, I have a 12x12 grid mouse (with partial 24ths but that can be skipped) and a sea turtle that is partially 8x8 and partially 16x16, both crease patterns can be found here:
https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/fold ... leSHoDd7z2
it is definitely possible to fold these two models with the small sheets, but would certainly require precision. Good practice imo

Re: CPs based on an 8x8 grid
Thanks! That one works! I'm no expert, but since there's not a lot of 8x8 models out there I've been folding all sorts of random stuff on tiny paper:Baltorigamist wrote:It might be a little complicated (I don't know your skill level), but there's a model called the Omega Star that I used to fold all the time. Somewhere around the house I have a tiny collapsed Foschi's scorpion (24x24 grid), never got around shaping it because it seemed very likely to tear. Any 8x8-12x12 design should be fine.
Re: CPs based on an 8x8 grid
Thanks! I actually found your turtle while looking for 8x8 models and folded it yesterday (see pic above). It's an amazing model! I definitely consider it to be a 16x16 tho. I'll give the mouse a try!NeverCeaseToCrease wrote:I too often fold from the small squares, it's handy for when I'm commuting somewhere or waiting around somewhere.

Re: CPs based on an 8x8 grid
Thanks! I'm glad y'all like the turtle.
It has become unexpectedly popular in the past year or so (I posted it here like 3 years ago but no one really saw), I tried to count of the people who folded it, it's probably like 40 but I've lost count
Also, what's the white seagull in your hand there? That looks like a nice one.

It's a pelican designed by Sebastien Limet: https://www.flickr.com/photos/-sebl-/21360636315
I created a thread requesting help to reverse engineer it and Baltorigamist helped me figure it out: https://snkhan.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=15074
Thanks origami_8! Those are all perfect!

Love the sea turtle! Just stumbled upon this and had to try it! Thank you so much for sharing
Re: CPs based on an 8x8 grid
There are lots of small c.ps on tieba baidu forums and Reddit
Re: CPs based on an 8x8 grid
A cat by Seiji Nishikawa starts with an 8x8 grid, published in BOS Convention 2003 Autumn and also in Origami Tanteidan Magazine 49.
