Monthly Folding Challenge - February 2010
The theme for Fabruary is ''paganism"
The task of this challenge will paganism. This is a very broad topic, which all allow all not only to demonstrate their skills in origami, but also delve into the history of the ancient world. You could fold Gods of antiquity or the symbols of the pagan cultures of different nations.
Perhaps you will choose an assembly of soldiers Slavic warriors, barbarians Scandinavians, or the gods of Greece.
You can fold the many kind of swastikas or runes, ancient idols or images of the Slavic gods and monuments of pagan architecture.
In general, the choice is limitless. Good luck!!!
The following rules apply:
- one square, few square or rectangle per model
- no cuts, no glue
- your own original designs only
origami_8 will be the judge !!!

Pentagram by myself.
Folded from an 18cm square of black copy paper (which in relation is about the size of the photo compared to the finished model).
While the idea might be pretty simple, getting it to work properly was not. Anyone who has ever played a bit with pleats intersecting at arbitrary angles will know that the problem is that the pleats are shifted after the intersection.
To get a working CP I drew the finished pleat intersection in Freehand, and unfolded it virtually. I then took this part and mirrored/rotated it 5 times to get the most important CP lines which I then printed on black paper (almost invisible but enough to locate the creases for precreasing).

So long and keep folding ^_^

Wikipedia is your friend.
Any figure from European non Judeo-Christian religion or mythos would be considered 'Pagan'.
Such as Zeus, Hyperion, Cronus or other Greco-Roman deity.
Or a Wiccan figure, such as Cernunnos, Herne, or Pann.
Or an Irish figure, such as the Fomóraig, the Tuatha Dé Danann, or Finn McCool.
I guess a dragon would be okay. But for the sake of the challenge, have it eating the Yggdrasill tree at the World's root, and call it Níðhöggr/Nidhogg

I once set up an origami PLC. But the business folded.
In the case that Dragons are in the theme, like a creature of Paganism Religion Myths, here is my Dragon....or a scorpion, that represents the Zodiac.... http://www.flickr.com/photos/47351289@N02/
But I'm goign to fold a Pegasus, I'm just need to make the tissue paper to do that....when I finish, I post it....

Haha fishgoth, a while ago I read a book that talked plentifully about Yggdrasill.. ...and forgive my faulty 16 year old memory, but was nidhogg not mentioned also in age of mythology??!
I might try to make a ra.... ....hmmmmmm looks fun!
And Purista - If you are the guy who asked me on flickr how to register for the forum, I am very happy that you managed to enter!! Your scorpion looks fabulous!!
