A duck, by me. There are many nice ducks about, like Katsuta's and Yoshio's, so I designed a simple one. I really like the colour changes on Katsuta's duck, so I tried to incorporate that into my design.

Hey Goku, I folded the same thing! I tried getting a lot of details, and ended up with a really thick model that is possible to diagram in 30 steps. However, that includes repeat, so I guess it isn't eligible.
(The model can be found on my blog if you still want to see it)

Hi Cupcake, your Ryu Zin is very nice, and conception seems to be very clever ! :D
I tried to add back legs on mine but with them the model was + than 30 steps. I'll try again...

I was doodling and I ended up with Montroll's Three Headed Dragon. By the looks of it, I think this is it without all the grafts.

This is my entry to this contest. it has about 29 folds(plus 2 - if you count lines just as a refferences to make another ones, not used in folding). This one i folded with inspiration of Kamiya's Flying Crane. I didn't make feathers on the wings, because there would be over 45 steps then :D

I worked a bit more on my eagle, because I wanted to draft some diagrams.

For reference, old version: http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/6926 ... wsmall.png http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/2/ad ... ewsmal.png

New version:

I've also got another version, which isn't as similar to Nguyen's eagle, and thus probably not the best submission to this thread. In any case, it does represent an eagle, and was inspired by the picture at http://www.hickerphoto.com/soaring-eagl ... ctures.htm
In particular, the tail is much bigger in that version.

(The crease lines except for the central and the one at the front of the wings shouldn't be there, I was playing around a bit.)

Maybe I should start a thread about my first design project and ask for feedback. :)

6) You can basically fold any model you like, but bonus points will go to folders who re-interpret a model well known for being complex. Look at the list above; there are plenty of well known designed by Kamiya Satoshi, Robert Lang, Hideo Komatsu, Fumiaki Kawahata, and so on.
There is a discrepance between the contest theme (Kamiya Satoshi in less than 30 steps) and the step 6 of rules talking of other authors too.

The title is just to indicate that you are simplifying famous complex works. Kamiya is somewhat the epitome of complex folding.

I've now diagrammed my eagle submission: http://www.happyfolding.com/diagrams
I've made the tail a bit wider, because I think that it is both more characteristic of eagles, and reflects the tail of Hung Cuong Nguyen's eagle better. [So the diagrams are for the model shown above as my "new" version, but with the tail of version 2 and an extra crimp to shape the wings.]

If you find mistakes or think steps are too unclear, please do let me know via PM.

Step 1: 2 folds
Step 2: 3 folds
Step 3: 1 fold
Step 4: 1 fold
Step 5: 0 folds
Step 6: 2 folds
Step 7: 2 folds
Step 8: 0 folds
Step 9: 2 folds
Step 10: 2 folds
Step 11: 2 folds
Step 12: 6 folds
Step 13: 4 folds
--------------------
total: 27 folds
