Well, mine is closer to the fold limit than the ones posted so far, but at any rate, here is my simple interpretation of the favorite Lang scorpions:

Image

Diagrams are here: http://fc07.deviantart.com/fs47/f/2009/ ... aQuick.pdf
Done in 24-28 folds/steps depending on how many guide creases are made. I don't know if it bears resemblence to any other designs, since can only seem find images of complex scorpions.

Subjects of inspiration:
http://www.langorigami.com/art/gallery/ ... corpion_hp
Also the one from "The Complete Book of Origami" (less complex I guess), but I can't find a picture and it has been years since I folded it.
Donya - you can enter as many times as you like, although spam will probably irritate the judge
Thanks. I hope I might get lucky and be bitten by the inspiration bug once or twice more before the month ends, but enough times to spam would be tough for me to do.

To clarify yet again:
-30 or fewer steps. You can have 1 step. You can have 30. It is the overall interpretation of the model that is the main thing.
-The aim is to impress Starburst.
-Please give us an idea of the number of step you used. Crease patterns or descriptions of what you have done, or even diagrams will help clarify how many steps you really took, but are not necessary.
-You can enter as many times as you like, but if you fill this thread with dross, don't expect to impress the judge.
-Oi, Quentin, no! I said no 'That model is grate!' type posts ;-)

I'll edit the first post to clarify some of this...
I once set up an origami PLC. But the business folded.

I'm sure you could make it a 9 step butterfly from a square - step 1, fold square into rectangle!

I'm not really sure if this is allowed, but I designed a variation of Joseph Wu's One Fold Stegosaurus a little while ago, and I want to submit it as an entry for the challenge, but I am not sure if it is actually a viable entry. But, I am still going to submit it, and see what happens. So, here goes:

Inspired by Joseph Wu's One Fold Stegosaurus.

My Flickr

Hi! It's been a long while since I've been active on here. I deleted my Dropbox years ago, so some things, like my Dragonfly Varileg guide, are lost to time. I may still have other things, though! Email me if you have any questions.

Wait, so you're posting a more complex version of possibly the most simple model in the world (Besides an unfolded piece of paper)?

That's kind of the opposite of this challenge :)

It's a very neat model though 8)

I have a design ready and I just have to refold it.... :D

During watching a film i've made this:

Koi (a very primitive one)

i made a frog base before, thats why those fold are there

Question: If i crumple the paper before so it gives some "precreases", do they count as well?

I would count that as a texture on the paper (like creping paper) and not a step at all.

simple frog

Post by quesoonfire »

I made a simple frog. There have been many notable frogs in origami, two complex ones being Kamiya's tree frog and Lang's frog.
I made diagrams for this model, and in all, there are about 30 folds.

Been a while since I entered a challenge... Anyway, this is my submission.
Simple version of Kamiya's sea turtle. About 25 steps.
