Monthly Folding Challenge - September 2008

Post by firstfold »

The theme for September will be Sports. I always encourage as much participation and broadly defined creativity as possible so no limits on folding style, paper, or number of units. I think there may be a bias towards models folded from a single square so multi-unit models might tend to require a unique feature that just couldn’t be done by one piece of paper. I will leave the exact criteria up to the next judge. Consider the following possibilities:

Sports equipment or vehicles
Animals in sports
Sports symbols and mascots
The heroes of sports
A sports action model you can play with???

Anermak will judge this contest and will propose the challenge theme for October.

I'm looking forward to this challenge. I've folded a few things about sports before (recently a swimmer and a podium for the Olympics), and have always found it hard to fold anyone playing a sport, because of the movement. Perhaps someone will fold Usain Bolt with a lightning Bolt trailing behind him? ;)

Yes, Cupcake, I saw them on your blog and think they are both excellent in ideas and design. I couldnt make a comment without registering though.
Keep it up.

Anermak has requested that BluePaper act as the judge for this months challenge.

Congratulations to all those who entered the August challenge and especially to the winning entries who in addition to sharing great entries alo acted with great sportmanship in accepting Anermak's request.

Therefore, BluePaper will judge this month's challenge.

I hope to see some great new models - soon.

By the way, Chicago now has three first place professional teams now - Anyone want to fold a Chicago Bear, a White Sock or a Cub?

Have to design something new, alisher, because thats pretty much the idea of the challenges. Although new soccer players might do, I'm thinking of trying something else...

A Stepmania dance pad designed by me, folded from a 15cm square of foilpaper (folding it from kami is easier but I wanted the arrows to be shiny). The backside of the model is all pink and doesn't contain any folded edges.

Now all you need to do is light it on fire. Sorry could not resist. That is a great model by the way.
Whenever I do complex Origami I get this sinking feeling.

It's not very well folded, but here's my entry for now!
