While you are waiting for the box to open I thought I would show you some things that are NOT in the treasure chest.
It is NOT Jack Sparrow because someone else has already folded a “Jack-in-a-box”.
Jack is folded from one 30 by 12 foil backed rectangle

I was expecting to fold this with a little more color, but it turns out that not only am I running out of paper, I'm also running out of glue (which I'll get more of both in the next two weeks, most likely).
So here is my submission, Penrod, one of the crew of the Flying Dutchman. He is half man, half lobster. Folded from a 15cm square of Japanese foil.

It's obviously Davey Jones' heart in the chest. If it wasn't, he would be disqualified because it would have nothing to do with the movie...
I've fallen down, and I can't get up.

I said in the MOVIE. The dead man's chest is the only one that has any relation to the story.

"The theme for July is ''Pirates of the Caribbean"
The task is to fold a model or a scene that clearly shows what theme it is supposed to be ..."
I believe that the theme is broader than the movie and that the movie is just given as an example of one apporach?
I chose (and already folded) what I had planned to put in the treasure chest from:
"Pirates of the Caribbean" 1493-1720 by Cruz Aspestegui Chatwell Books, Inc. 2002
Help - I need a ruling on this - I can always change what I had planned into either gold or a heart if needed but given the folds already made it would be a broken heart.

Let's not get too worked up
If a submission is off-topic, naturally it will get judged lower. Nothing to worry about. A treasure chest sounds like fair game to me. Keep in mind, I'm all for creative interpretation. If judges feel like it's too much of a stretch, well then, it'll naturally be judged lower.
As long as it's done well and artistic, it's all good. Nice work so far,
Let's see some more submissions, everybody!

Haha. Silly me. I totally forgot about that one But a heart in the chest would be much more unique, and identifiable with the Pirates of The Caribbean Trilogy.origami_8 wrote:No, there was for example a chest full of gold that was very very important (it made up the whole first movie).

Just one more "historical fact". "Pirates of the Caribbean" the movie was based on the Disney World attraction that opened in 1973. I saw the attraction with my wife, son (now age 38) and daughter in the later 1970's. According to facts on the Disney web sight, it was originally conceived in the 1950's as a Wax museum exhibit.
My treasure chest holds something that is historically accurate for Pirates (17th. and 18th century) but NOT in the movie - perhaps it should have been or could be in a future sequal. I will show a relationship between the object and the movie script.

This is NOT in the treasure chest but it may be a better fold. If I put it in the chest it would have to be a Golden compass and that is anoother movie.
Jack Sparrow's compass folded uncut from a 40 by 8 rectangle.
